Admin Panel
This guide explains what each screen of the Admin Panel (Insights Dashboard) does and how to run your daily work.
The panel runs embedded inside Chatwoot; conversations themselves live in Chatwoot's "Conversations" screen. The panel only covers what Chatwoot cannot: AI reports, bot appearance, analytics, and configuration.
Overview
The landing screen; a summary of your support traffic:
- Three metric cards — period metrics such as total conversations, bot resolution rate, and human handoffs.
- Topic distribution — a stacked breakdown of conversations across your topic taxonomy. This is where you spot which topics are heating up.
Reports
The list and detail view of weekly AI reports. A report is generated automatically every Monday at 00:30 (Europe/Istanbul) for the completed Monday–Sunday week; you can also trigger one manually from the list.
The report detail contains: the week's summary, topic distribution, sentiment analysis, knowledge gaps (questions the bot could not answer), operator feedback, and improvement suggestions. Details: Weekly Reports.
Knowledge Center
The knowledge base the bot grounds its answers in. You see datasets and documents, and you can upload and delete documents from the panel (administrator role required). Details: Knowledge Base.
Integrations
Ready-made snippets for adding the widget to your site:
- Web — a
<script>snippet for standard sites; copy it and paste before your page's closing</body>tag. - Embedded — for iframe-embedding scenarios.
Bot Appearance
Here you edit how the widget looks to your customers; the live preview on the right reflects every change instantly.
- The color editor is grouped into Header / Content / Input accordions; 12+ colors plus the font are adjustable.
- Changes save automatically (after about a second of inactivity) — there is no Save button.
- Contrast guard: if any of 5 critical text/background pairs falls below 3:1 contrast, saving is blocked and the failing pair is shown. This guarantees the widget stays readable for every customer.
- The bot name, welcome message, logo, and suggested questions (quick-start questions on the welcome screen) are also managed here.
Webhook Events
A technical monitoring screen for the webhook queue coming from Chatwoot. If you suspect a message never reached the bot, check here whether the event was processed and retry a failed one.
Settings
All configuration, in tabs:
- General — assistant name, welcome message, company name/info, and the brand voice: a free-text instruction that shapes the bot's tone (e.g. "be friendly but brief, no emoji"). If left empty, only the selected persona speaks.
- Model — AI provider and model (chat and classification separately), temperature, timeout; API-key entry with Test verification. Keys are stored encrypted in the database.
- Notifications — notify a Slack webhook and/or an email address on human handoff. The email provider is selectable (FormSubmit / Web3Forms / Resend); use the Test button next to each provider to verify the setup.
- Appearance — the panel's own theme: aurora / graphite / daylight presets, light/dark/system mode, and a custom theme editor. A custom theme cannot be saved unless it passes the accessibility contrast thresholds (WCAG AA).
- Brand — company logo upload.
- Integration — Chatwoot/Dify connection identifiers (advanced; filled automatically by zero-touch setup) and the Open Dify Console button: administrators jump into Dify with one click, no password (session handoff; a shared admin identity is used on the Dify side). The same shortcut also lives in the sidebar — one click from any screen.
- Topics — the topic taxonomy: add, rename, and archive the categories conversations are classified into. Deleting archives: topic attribution on historical conversations is preserved.
- API Keys — create and revoke
sk_showcase_keys for MCP/API access. Details: MCP Integration.
Sign-in and Roles
- The panel normally opens via Chatwoot SSO (no password prompt if you are signed in to Chatwoot). For direct access there is also a local sign-in with
ADMIN_EMAIL/ADMIN_PASSWORD(rate-limited, audit-logged). Sign in with Google can be added to the Chatwoot login — it flows into the panel through SSO. - Document upload/delete and some configuration actions require the administrator role; viewer-role users keep read access.
